Job summary

Saab Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer in Rockingham, WA. The role focuses on developing and maintaining system safety programs for defence and security solutions, with hazard analysis and safety case development integral to the work.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical engineering (or related discipline).
• Demonstrated experience in safety engineering across complex software‑intensive systems.
• Strong capability in hazard identification and risk assessment, safety requirements, safety architecture and design, verification/validation, and safety case development.
• Working knowledge of contemporary safety engineering standards and best practice, including MIL-STD-882.
• Experience working within structured engineering lifecycle environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system safety program plans, processes, and frameworks.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk analysis.
• Contribute to safety assessment reports, safety case documentation.
• Perform safety analysis in support of design changes and system updates.
• Establish and maintain safety requirements with traceability, verification, and mitigations.
• Support broader systems engineering activities and apply governance for safety-critical defence systems.
• Contribute to verification and validation (V&V) activities.
