Job summary

Northern Sydney Local Health District in NSW is seeking a Telephonist Level 2 for Northern Beaches Hospital to serve as the first point of contact for the NBH switchboard. You will respond to calls promptly and professionally, supporting patients, visitors and staff.

The role is temporary full-time until 28 January 2027, with a 24-hour rotating roster and duties that include answering calls, coordinating with emergency groups, and delivering courteous, efficient service across the department.

What You'll Be Doing

As a hospital switchboard operator you are required to have excellent customer service skills and will be responsible for accurate and efficient response to all calls made to and from the NBH switchboard and emergency calls.

The switchboard at Northern Beaches Hospital operates 24 hours a day requiring candidates to work a 24hr rotating roster.

We are seeking proactive individuals to join our extraordinary team on a full time basis, duties include:

• Operating hospital switchboard
• Answering incoming and outgoing calls
• Delivering assistance in a polite, clear, well-spoken and calm manner in all circumstances
• Contacting staff and emergency groups for code calls e.g. cardiac arrest and trauma groups
• Performing routine clerical duties as required by the Manager
• Providing an effective, efficient, timely and courteous service to patients, visitors, the public and staff who interact with the switchboard.
