Job summary

Northern Grampians Shire Council is seeking a Swim Teacher to deliver Learn-to-Swim lessons in St Arnaud. You will plan, deliver, assess and report on student progress, while creating an inclusive, safe learning space for participants of all ages.

The role requires current AUSTSWIM Water Safety and ARC resuscitation credentials, with a passion for water safety and community impact. Casual, on-site position with opportunities to support training and development.

Qualifications

• Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification, or equivalent.
• Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant and Preschool qualification, or equivalent (desirable).
• Current ARC recognised resuscitation certification.
• Knowledge of AUSTSWIM industry guidelines.
• Ability to adapt lessons to meet learning needs and skill levels of participants.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and safely deliver swimming lessons to the Swim and Survive standard.
• Develop lesson plans using a variety of teaching methods and styles to support different learning needs.
• Assess participant readiness, progress and skill development, and provide appropriate feedback and reporting.
• Create a positive, encouraging and inclusive learning environment.
• Support and supervise training candidates and probationary employees participating in classes.
• Provide professional and friendly customer service to participants, parents, carers and other stakeholders.
• Promote positive water safety behaviours and help participants build confidence in the water.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings as required.
• Undertake other duties within your skills, competence and training.

Package: $38.97per hour (Including 25% casual loading) plus superannuation

Northern Grampians Shire Council is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Swim Teachers to join our team at the Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre.

As a Swim Teacher, you’ll play an important role in helping participants develop their swimming skills, water confidence and safety knowledge through engaging and supportive lessons.

About the role

What you'll be doing:

Qualifications & experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification, or equivalent.
• Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant and Preschool qualification, or equivalent (desirable).
• Current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recognised resuscitation certification.
• Knowledge of AUSTSWIM industry guidelines.
• Knowledge of swimming lesson philosophy and teaching guidelines.
• The ability to adapt lessons to meet the learning needs and skill levels of individual participants.
