Job summary

The University of Sydney, based at the Camperdown Campus, offers a full-time 13-month Veterinary Intern (Surgery) to support the Small Animal Surgery team and teaching of DVM students. Qualifications

• A degree in veterinary science registrable with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board.
• Strong clinical skills in small animal surgery.
• Ability to work under supervision in the UVTHS and with referral services.
• Enthusiasm and demonstrated ability for teaching.
• Willingness to teach DVM veterinary students.
• Desire to provide best-practice principles in veterinary services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality veterinary clinical services to small animals.
• Provide an effective clinical service for hospitalised cases.
• Ensure quality and continuity of service in the Small Animal Surgery unit.
• Assist with the provision of excellent small animal veterinary services under supervision of experienced specialists and senior colleagues.
• Assist with the training of DVM students including clinical rounds, tutorials and practical classes when required.
• Maintain the reputation for academic excellence.
