Job summary

Animal Referral Hospital Canberra is seeking skilled and passionate Surgery Veterinary Nurses with a focus on surgical procedures. The role offers Part-time or Full-time hours and the opportunity to work alongside leading veterinary specialists to deliver high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent, at least 2 years of surgical nursing experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 2 years veterinary nursing experience with surgical focus.
• Strong knowledge of surgical nursing techniques and protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Compassionate attitude towards animals and caregivers.
• Willingness to be on-call for emergency specialised surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures, including preparation, monitoring, and post-operative care
• Maintaining surgical suites and equipment to ensure cleanliness and functionality
• Providing support in anesthesia administration and monitoring
• Monitoring patient vital signs and responding to changes in condition
• Providing compassionate care to patients and their families, offering education and support as needed
• Collaborating with other members of the veterinary team to ensure seamless patient care
