Job summary

NALHN is offering Resident Medical Officer positions for the 2027 clinical year at Lyell McEwin Health Service, one of SA's busiest regional acute facilities serving the northern Adelaide community.

Appointments are full-time temporary up to 30 January 2028, with rotations through surgical units and supervision by experienced consultants. Applicants must hold MBBS or equivalent and be registered or eligible with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree with current or eligible registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Completion of at least one postgraduate year (PGY1) prior to commencement in 2027.
• Genuine interest in surgical training and procedural medicine.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Rotating through surgical units delivering safe, evidence-based care under supervision.
• Assessing, managing, and reviewing surgical inpatients across general and sub-specialty streams.
• Contributing to ward rounds, operative lists, and after-hours on-call duties as rostered.
• Engaging in multidisciplinary care, discharge planning and clear clinical documentation.
