Job summary

The Sutherland Hospital is recruiting Registered Nurses for surgical services. Roles available as permanent or temporary Full/Part Time in a Nurse Bank with rotations across ENT and GI surgery.

Positions require up to 38 hours per week and a seven-day rotating roster, based in Caringbah, Sydney. Ideal candidates will hold current Australian RN registration, demonstrate strong communication, teamwork and a patient‑centred approach, and have post‑registration acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
• Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
• Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
• Demonstrated recent extensive post registration experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Service.
• Backfill temporary vacancies across surgical areas (e.g., maternity leave relief).
• Work across surgical clinical areas with extended rotations and opportunities for professional development and clinical support.
