Job summary

Calvary Mt Carmel - Maitland is seeking a casual Support Worker - Catering to help provide nourishing meals and a comfortable dining experience for residents, respecting dietary preferences and cultural needs.

You will work under supervision of the Chef/Cook, assist with meal prep, maintain cleanliness, and follow food safety standards. Flexible hours and supportive team.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow dietary requirements and instructions.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practices.
• Good communication and teamwork in a residential setting.
• Flexibility with casual hours and shifts.

Responsibilities

About the role

The Support Worker - Catering will ensure a supportive environment where residents are encouraged to express their food preferences and choice, whilst ensuring that food is nutritious and prepared in alignment with appropriate standards. Catering support workers will do all that they can to support cultural, religious and dietary preferences in preparation and food service to ensure that resident satisfaction is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Support service delivery under the direction of the Chef/Cook
• Prepare daily meals and beverages that meet individual needs of each resident including special dietary requirements, allergies and culturally specific as instructed by the Chef or Cook
• Ensure environmental service standards are met and maintained, and the residents living environment is safe and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness
• Ensuring that all duties are worked in accordance with the National Food Safety Program at all times including completing food safety records and the prevention of cross contamination

About you

• Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement
• Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
• Ability to operate standard domestic and industrial equipment
• Demonstrated experience in food preparation and food safety desirable
• Food Handling Certificate Desirable
