Job summary

Just Better Care Cairns is seeking compassionate Support Workers to assist clients at home across Cairns, Atherton Tablelands and surrounding areas. You will travel between homes delivering person‑centred care, daily living support and mobility assistance.

Flexible casual shifts, ability to work overnight as needed, ongoing training and local support staff help you balance work and life while making a real difference in your community.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification in aged care or related field (see above).
• Medications administration certificates and checks are preferred.
• Current first aid, CPR and clear background checks are required.
• Valid driver licence and access to a reliable insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Travel between clients' homes to provide person‑centred care and daily living support.
• Assist with personal care, domestic tasks, meal prep and transport to appointments.
• Support use of aids and equipment and monitor wellbeing, reporting progress.
• Participate in training and team meetings and be available for two overnight shifts per week if needed.

Across Australia Just Better Care provides in‑home aged care and disability support services, supporting people to live independently. We are currently looking for Support Workers to join our Cairns, Atherton Tablelands & surrounding area team. The role

This role involves travelling between customer's homes and assisting them with daily living and lifestyle requirements by providing person‑centred care and support.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

• Personal care: showering, dressing, grooming and medication assistance
• Domestic assistance: light household cleaning, laundry and meal preparation
• Social support/transportation: social activities, shopping/groceries, travelling to medical appointments
• Supporting customers in the use of aids and personal equipment including standing or walking frames, wheelchairs, manual or electric hoists, sliding sheets or moving boards, hearing aids and other physical aids
• Supporting customers with complex and/or challenging needs
• Monitoring the well‑being of customers and reporting on their progress
• Participating in staff meetings and attending training as required
• Availability to work two overnight shifts per week if required

What you will need

• Minimum Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Home & Community Care, Individual Support or Disability Services (Highly Desirable)
• Assist With Medications Certificate (HLTHPS006)
• Current CPR / First Aid Certificate
• Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
• Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Current Australian Driver's Licence
