Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Welding Boilermaker Supervisor to lead welding and corrosion remediation works on Barrow Island for Chevron. You will supervise welding crews, ensure compliance with WPS and project specs, and coordinate inspections, while driving safety and quality in a FIFO environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience in heavy industrial, mining, energy, infrastructure or oil & gas projects.
• Trade qualification as a Boilermaker/Fabricator.
• AS 2214 / WTIA Welding Supervisor Certification is essential.
• Front line management training / welding Supervisor training.
• Proven experience supervising coded welding activities.
• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, weld maps and specifications.
• Construction White Card, Driver's Licence and Working at Heights.
• Confined Space, Gas Test Atmospheres and Welding Inspector qualifications highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Supervise welding activities across tank replacement and corrosion remediation works.
• Ensure all welding complies with approved WPSs, project specifications and applicable standards.
• Coordinate weld inspections, NDT activities and quality documentation.
• Monitor welding productivity, quality performance and project progress.
• Lead and mentor welding crews, providing technical guidance and support.
• Maintain weld traceability and inspection records.
• Participate in daily, weekly and project progress meetings.
• Champion Downer's Zero Harm culture and safe execution of all hot works.

Lead critical welding & corrosion remediation works on Barrow Island, driving quality, safety & project delivery for Chevron.

The opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Welding Boilermaker Supervisor to join our Industrial & Energy team on Barrow Island. This is an exciting opportunity to support the replacement of key wastewater treatment assets before transitioning into a major corrosion remediation program. Working closely with Chevron and project stakeholders, you'll provide technical leadership to welding crews while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. If you're a trade-qualified Boilermaker with strong welding supervision experience and a passion for quality, this is your chance to contribute to critical infrastructure projects in a unique FIFO environment.

What we're looking for
