Job summary

Bechtel is overseeing the Eva Copper Mine Project in Cloncurry, QLD, delivering EPC for the process plant and infrastructure. The Structural Supervisor will direct structural steel installation within process areas, ensuring safety, schedule adherence and budget compliance.

You will lead craft teams, coordinate with discipline leads, manage resources and enforce safety standards across the site, contributing to Bechtel’s commitment to zero accidents and quality.

Qualifications

• Must understand jobsite construction operations.
• Know Bechtel ES&H Core Processes and Zero Accidents.
• Familiar with BSAP standards and SWPPs.
• Aware of BSAP tools and automation used on projects.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and databases.
• Understand industry quality standards and codes.

Responsibilities

Project Overview

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary

The Structural Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing structural steel installation operations within the process plant areas for the construction team. Supervises all direct craft professionals, subordinate contractor services, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following relevant safety standards, erection specifications and is delivered within required schedules and budgets

Major Responsibilities

• Implementing the project ES&H program and quality control program.
• Supervises, coordinates and/or directs craft activities as assigned for the structural disciplines.
• Coordinating craft safety training and always enforcing safe work practices in conjunction with the ES&H staff.
• Planning the craft manpower and interfacing with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, hiring, and skills training programs.
• Oversight of the needs of the structural crews for craft personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, construction equipment, tools, and consumables as well as optimizing their utilization.
• Working closely with other lead discipline superintendents, supervisors and coordinating efforts and activities to meet the overall project requirements.
• Maintaining a high level of housekeeping throughout the work area.

Education And Experience Requirements

• 12 - 14 years of related large industrial or mining construction projects and structural steel installation experience.
• 5 years of supervisory experience in structural steel roles with experience in managing the building processes from civil foundations through to final steel installation acceptances.

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Must have knowledge and understanding of construction operations at the jobsite
• Must have knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Bechtel Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Core Processes and Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” philosophy.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
• Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.
• Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current BSAP standards.
• Must be familiar with current industry quality standards and applicable code requirements.
