Job summary

Bechtel is delivering the Eva Copper Project in Cloncurry, QLD, Australia. The Superintendent - Crushing will supervise Structural, Mechanical and Piping craft on an EPC project, ensuring work aligns with design specs, schedules, and budgets.

You will lead a skilled team on a 2:1 roster in a remote Australian site. The role requires an engineering degree or equivalent with extensive field leadership, adherence to Bechtel policies, and strong ES&H discipline.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years in a similar role with supervision responsibility.
• Knowledge of ES&H core processes and Bechtel’s zero accidents philosophy.
• Familiarity with BSAP standards and related automation tools.
• Ability to manage subcontract formation and administration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct Structural, Mechanical, and Piping craft on EPC project.
• Ensure construction performance meets specs, schedules, and budgets.
• Plan manpower and coordinate with industrial relations for recruitment and training.
• Coordinate craft activities and ensure use of current revision documents.
• Interface with field engineering to resolve installation conflicts and provide technical assistance.
• Prepare weekly work plans with area planners and material requisitions.
• Monitor installed quantities and report to field engineer.

Project Overview

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.

Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary

The Superintendent - Crushing is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the SMP discipline on an EPC (direct-hire) Project. Supervises and directs Structural, Mechanical and Piping craft professionals, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets.

This role is operating on a 2:1 roster in Cloncurry, QLD

Major Responsibilities

• Implementing the project ES&H program and quality control program.
• Supervises, coordinates and/or directs craft activities as assigned for the Structural, Mechanical and Piping disciplines.
• Planning the craft manpower and interfacing with Industrial Relations for craft recruitment, hiring, and skills training programs.
• Supervising and coordinating the work activities of Structural, Mechanical and Piping craft professionals.
• Oversight of the needs of the Structural, Mechanical and Piping crews for craft personnel, subcontractor support, construction services, construction equipment, tools, and consumables.
• Preparing the weekly work plans in conjunction with the area planners.
• Preparing material requisitions for all tools and consumables required to execute the work and coordinating with the tool manager to obtain materials.
• Ensuring current revision documents are utilized for the Structural, Mechanical and Piping installation.
• Interfacing with the field engineering staff to resolve installation conflicts and fabrication errors and to obtain technical assistance for the craft supervisors and work force.
• Providing input to the quantity tracking application and reporting weekly installed quantities to the responsible field engineer.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Engineering degree or at least 15 years' experience in a similar role.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Must have knowledge and understanding of construction operations at the jobsite
• Must be familiar with the Bechtel Business Ethics handbook and policies.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Bechtel Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Core Processes and Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents”philosophy.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's Standard Work Process Procedures(SWPPs).
• Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.
• Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current BSAP standards.
• Must be familiar with current industry quality standards and applicable code requirements.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of the formation and administration of construction subcontracts.
