Job summary

Ku-ring-gai Council in Sydney is seeking a Supervisor – Drainage Maintenance to lead the Road Services team. You will oversee drainage programs, supervise staff, manage work orders, and ensure safety and quality across Council assets.

The role offers 38 hours per week with a 9-day fortnight, a private leaseback vehicle, and various employee benefits including health reimbursements and training opportunities, in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

TAFE Certificate in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and develop operational teams.
Experience engaging contractors and overseeing civil maintenance projects.
Traffic Control Certificates or willingness to undertake training.
WHS requirements understood; strong written and verbal communication.
Proficient in MS Office, databases and basic surveying.

Responsibilities

Investigate and respond to public service requests with timely solutions.
Manage scheduled and reactive drainage maintenance programs to standards.
Supervise staff, manage work orders, and oversee traffic control and safety.
Maintain equipment, plant and small machinery; ensure safe operations.
Provide guidance and training to the team to foster growth and accountability.

Salary $98,182.78 to $113,892.48 p/a + super
38 hours per week/9 day fortnight

About the role

Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Supervisor – Drainage Maintenance to join our dynamic Road Services team. This is your chance to make a real impact on the community while leading a skilled team of professionals.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

TAFE Certificate in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and hands-on experience in drainage maintenance
Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and develop operational teams
Experience engaging contractors and overseeing civil maintenance projects
Traffic Control Certificates (or willingness to undertake training) and understanding of WHS requirements
Competent in Microsoft Office, databases, and basic surveying
Strong written/verbal communication and a commitment to excellent customer service
38 hours per week/9 day fortnight
