Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Concrete Supervisor for the Eva Copper Mine Project in Queensland. The role oversees direct hire and subcontractor site activities, ensuring ES&H, quality, and schedule compliance while coordinating with engineers, clients and stakeholders on earthworks and foundations.

Qualifications

  • Preferable degree in engineering or 10+ years of civil/concrete experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of construction project experience in contractor/PMC roles.
  • Experience in large-scale bulk excavation and reinforced concrete pours.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

  • Coordinate performance of installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, client, and other stakeholders involved in earthworks and foundation works.
  • Review submittals, technical queries, field changes, drawings and As-Builts.
  • Maintain effective relationships with other departments and coordinate all jobsite activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor interfaces with other work groups.

Job Description

The Concrete Supervisor is responsible for the direct hire scope of works. The Concrete Supervisor is responsible for monitoring all appointed direct hire and Contractor's job site activities and ensure that the construction operations and contractor's performance follow project ES&H, quality, schedule requirements, whilst maintaining effective relationships when interfacing with stakeholders.

This role is offered on a FIFO basis to North Queensland, operating on a 2:1 roster

Major Responsibilities
  • Construction monitoring and compliance of direct hire and sub-contractors, ensuring works are carried out as per the drawings, specifications and standards, as per schedule and ensures compliance to ES&H plans, quality standards and local/national regulatory safety codes
  • Coordinate performance of the installation contractors, project status, schedule, cost control, change management systems
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, client, and other stakeholders involved in earthworks and foundation works.
  • Input to ensure continuous construction work fronts availability through review of look ahead schedules, commodity charts, resource charts, engineering deliverables, material delivery schedules and any other service requirements including sub-contractor submittals
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving the sub-contractor's submittals, technical queries, Field change documents and other technical documents including Drawings and As-Builts
  • Maintains an effective relationship with other functional departments and coordinates all jobsite contractual activities
  • Coordinates and monitors interfaces with other work groups.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea.Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. About the Candidate
  • Preferably a recognized degree in an engineering discipline or minimum 10 years of experience in civil and concrete works on industrial plants.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction projects in a contractor or a PMC role
  • Experience of large-scale bulk excavation and excavated materials movements
  • Experience of large reinforced concrete construction pours including embedment's on major equipment foundations
  • Thorough knowledge of standards, specification and codes as applicable, including various safety procedures and practices associated
  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to contractor's staff and construction engineers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of complex formwork systems and installation processes on similar projects.
