Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Craft Supervisor to lead a team on the Eva Copper Mine Project in Cloncurry, Queensland. You will supervise crafts, coordinate subcontract work, and ensure work complies with policies, schedules and budgets.

You will direct craft activities, plan workforce, monitor tool usage, and work with field engineers to interpret design documents and implement solutions. This is a full-time site-based role with relocation support and exposure to a major mining project.

Qualifications

• 9 - 12 years of relevant experience.
• Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
• Experience in the installation, maintenance and preservation of stationary / rotating equipment and / or piping systems.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
• Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
• Determines workforce requirements and coordinates established area operational plans.
• Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site and ensures craftsmen have required tools.

Project Overview:

Bechtel helps customers deliver projects of purpose that create a lasting positive legacy globally. These large, complex, and multi-disciplined projects create jobs, grow economies, and provide opportunities for local and regional communities. The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world-class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Bechtel is providing these EPC services across all disciplines and functions for this exciting capital project.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and supervise craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership / Supervision

• Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.

• Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.

Planning / Productivity

• Determines workforce requirements.

• Coordinates established area operational plans.

Tools, Materials & Equipment

• Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.

• Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.

Safety & Quality

• Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.

• Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.

Technical

• Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

• Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals

Education and Experience Requirements:

• 9 - 12 years of relevant experience
