Job summary

Transport for NSW in Hurstville, NSW seeks a capable technician lead to drive maintenance and installation work across systems. You will manage a small team, uphold a strong safety culture, and coordinate resources to meet KPI targets while ensuring on-site safety.

You will liaise with customers and project teams, develop apprentices, and provide performance reporting. This is a permanent Full-Time RC5 role based in Hurstville with on-call duties.

In this role, you'll:

Working as part of a safety driven team, you will manage a team of technicians ensuring, installations, Corrective and Routine maintenance are completed to a high-quality standard, within strict KPI’s while ensuring the team work safely.

You will drive the consistent application of technical and operational procedures, manage resources, materials, and equipment to meet operational requirements, and maintain accurate records to support change management, work order management, and cost recovery processes.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, project teams, and workforce management, you will help deliver high-quality outcomes while fostering a strong safety culture. You'll also coach and develop apprentices and team members, coordinate and plan team and on-call roster, respond to incidents and emergencies, and provide regular performance reporting to management.

Most importantly, you'll champion and uphold Sydney Trains' safety ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with safety obligations and operational standards.

About you

You're a skilled technician who’s experienced in leading a small team to deliver key maintenance and installation works across multiple operational systems.

Your very safety focussed, with good communication skills who’s able to hold and run team meetings and able to ensure your team understand their safety obligations and consistently demonstrate safe behaviours including completion of safety documentation.

You genuinely care about the development of those around you, leading from the front to enhance the capabilities of your team.

You have experience liaising with multiple stakeholders including contractors and other Sydney Trains work groups, coordination of tools,spares, plant and materials required to deliver installations and maintenance activities project scope on time and to budget.

This is a permanent RC5 ($124,968.00 to $144,799.00) position, based in Hurstville, where you will be required to be available for on-call duties as rostered with the technicians in the team.
