Job summary

Coates Hire is seeking a Yard Supervisor at the Hume branch to lead a small team of 7 Yardpersons, ensuring a safe, tidy and well-maintained yard, and coordinating activities around yard operations.

You will manage daily schedules, oversee basic repairs, liaise with suppliers, and maintain strong communication with customers and colleagues, ensuring quality checks on buildings before they depart the yard.

Qualifications

• Current forklift licence and a valid driver’s licence are required.
• Recent forklift experience is essential.
• Exceptional safety awareness is expected.
• Proven team leadership/management experience is required.
• Strong time management and attention to detail are important.
• Strong customer orientation and outcome focus are expected.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a safety-first approach and drive continuous improvement for the team.
• Act as main spotter for forklift movements around the yard.
• Ensure daily work schedules in and out of the yard are planned and achieved.
• Coordinate basic repairs for the branch and liaise with suppliers.
• Maintain clear and open communication with customers and colleagues.
• Sign-off and check the quality of buildings before they leave the yard.

• Monday to Friday 38 hour week

Based at our Hume branch, you'll be leading a small team of 7 Yardpersons in keeping our busy yard safe, coordinated and well maintained, ensuring buildings and equipment in the yard are tidy, clean and organised.

Your typical day will focus on:

• Demonstrate a safety-first attitude and provide a continuous improvement focus for the team
• Main spotter for tuck and forklift movements around the yard
• Ensuring daily schedules are managed and achieved for work in and out of the yard
• Coordinating basic repairs for the branch and liaison with a range of suppliers
• Clear and open communication with customers and colleagues
• Sign-off and checking the quality of buildings before they leave the yard
