Job summary

Coates is seeking a front-line yard supervisor at the Hume branch in Canberra. You will lead a small team of 7 Yardpersons, ensure yard safety and order, and coordinate daily schedules for the busy yard and associated deliveries.

The role requires a current forklift license, strong safety awareness, and solid team leadership with a customer-focused mindset. A permanent full-time position with a 38-hour week is offered.

Qualifications

• Forklift license is a requirement.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety-first attitude and drive continuous improvement.
• Main spotter for tuck and forklift movements around the yard.
• Ensure daily schedules are managed and achieved for work in and out of the yard.
• Coordinate basic repairs and liaise with suppliers.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and colleagues.
• Sign-off and check the quality of buildings before they leave the yard.

Based at our Hume branch, you'll be leading a small team of 7 Yardpersons in keeping our busy yard safe, coordinated and well maintained, ensuring buildings and equipment in the yard are tidy, clean and organised.

Your typical day will focus on:

• Demonstrate a safety-first attitude and provide a continuous improvement focus for the team
• Main spotter for tuck and forklift movements around the yard
• Ensuring daily schedules are managed and achieved for work in and out of the yard
• Coordinating basic repairs for the branch and liaison with a range of suppliers
• Clear and open communication with customers and colleagues
• Sign-off and checking the quality of buildings before they leave the yard
