Job summary

Enlighten is seeking a DevOps Engineer Intern who will help maintain big data systems, automate cloud tooling, and support distributed computing environments. The role targets a senior-year student who can work in a fast-paced, small business setting with hybrid on-site and remote work.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science or related field, have Bash/Python scripting skills, and familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and Git. Some on-site work in Columbia, MD is expected.

Qualifications

• Clearance: Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with at least 60% credits completed; degree in CS or related field.
• Bash scripting.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control software.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or other containerization technologies.
• Comfortable working on a Linux command line.
• Self-motivated with initiative.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tickets.
• Problem solving skills and data review abilities.
• Hybrid work: 1–2 days per week at Columbia, MD office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and upkeep of distributed computing systems and configuration management automation.
• Scripting in Python and Bash for automation and feature development.
• Troubleshooting customer-reported issues in applications and providing support.

Will work in a fast-paced, small business environment, maintaining and updating big data systems automation and cloud management tooling. Will work a hybrid schedule with some on-site work with the team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office. Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed.

Preferred Requirements

• Prior technical internship experience is a big plus.
• A Security+ certification is a plus, but not required.
