Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Substitute Paraprofessional As Needed for W-E Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools. You will assist students, reinforce classroom rules, and support the substitute teacher in various activities.

The role requires following instructions, strong communication, and the ability to handle physical tasks and stress while keeping students safe and engaged. An Educational Aide permit or equivalent qualifications are required by the Ohio Department of Education.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned student with physical tasks including lifting up to fifty pounds.
• Reinforce class rules in the teacher's absence and support substitute teacher.
• Listen to student recitations and assist with curriculum tasks.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Assist with behavior management techniques and student transitions.
• accompany students on trips to the office or school nurse; serve as resource for evaluation team.
• May assist with changing, toileting, stander or feeding as needed; duties as assigned.

Substitute Position

Paraprofessional As Needed

Hourly Rate of Pay: $13.00

Primary Duties

Assist student to whom assigned in physical tasks as required (must be able to lift at least fifty pounds); reinforce class rules when teacher is absent; assist substitute teacher; listen to student recitations, readings and other curriculum tasks; work with small groups to reinforce materials/academics initially introduced by the teacher; reinforce behavior management techniques; accompany student(s) when trips to the office and/or school nurse are necessary; and serve as resource person, as requested, to the student evaluation team conferring about one of the students to whom assigned. May require changing, toileting, stander, feeding, etc. Duties as assigned per the needs of the student.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills – This person must be able to follow instructions and project positive reinforcement; work well with others; relate to and work well with students; communicate with students, staff and the public, both individually and in group situations; good verbal and written skills desired; be able to improvise in difficult and/or unusual situations and be able to function under stress. Education/Training – The Ohio Department of Education requires a one-year Educational Aide permit. Applicants must also meet one State of Ohio requirement: Have passed the ParaPro Assessment Test, hold an Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or have completed at least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience – Previous experience in special education and/or vocational education preferred.
