Job summary

Newton Moore SHS in Western Australia is seeking a highly organized Student Support Officer to join our Student Services team. The role focuses on coordinating support for students, families and staff to strengthen engagement, wellbeing and academic success.

The successful applicant will help remove barriers to learning by developing responsive systems and working with teachers, families and external agencies. A balance of empathy and organisation is essential in our fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights.
  • Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number.

  • Coordinate the school's student services and contribute to developing responsive systems that support students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or engagement challenges.
  • Support students, families and staff through coordinated, practical and compassionate systems that strengthen engagement, wellbeing and success at school.
  • Collaborate with the student services team, teachers and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and support students at school and in the wider community.

The Role

Newton Moore SHS is seeking a highly organised, relationship-focused Student Support Officer to join our Student Services team.

This is an opportunity to contribute to work that genuinely changes outcomes for young people. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting students, families and staff through coordinated, practical and compassionate support systems that strengthen engagement, wellbeing and success at school.

The Student Support Officer assists in coordinating the school's student services and contributes to developing responsive systems that support students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or engagement challenges.

The role combines coordination, collaboration and problem-solving. You will work closely with the student services team, teachers, families, leadership staff and external agencies to help remove barriers to learning and ensure students are supported both at school and within the wider community.

This role suits someone who can balance empathy with organisation, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The role requires an ability to maintain professional boundaries, exercise sound judgement, and work constructively within areas of responsibility and control.
