Job summary

Stromlo Forest Anglican College in Canberra is seeking a caring and committed Student Support Assistant to support learning, participation and wellbeing from Kindergarten to Year 6. You will work under teachers to help students engage in classroom activities, build independence and access the curriculum in an inclusive environment.

The role requires a genuine commitment to supporting children, strong communication, teamwork and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Education Support (or equivalent) desirable.
• Experience working with primary-aged children (K-6) desirable.
• Understanding of inclusive practices and diverse learning needs advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support teacher-led learning across literacy, numeracy and inquiry.
• Assist individual students and small groups to engage in learning.
• Support students with diverse learning and wellbeing needs.
• Encourage student independence, confidence and participation.
• Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and belonging.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
