Job summary

William Campbell College in Nowra Hill, NSW, is seeking a casual Student Learning Support Officer (SLSO) Level 1–3 to join the team.

You will work one-on-one with students or in small groups, using positive behaviour support to promote a productive learning environment.

Applicants must have education support experience or relevant qualifications; WWCC/Police/Ndis checks are required; you will work within the college's Christian ethos.

Qualifications

• Experience in Education Support or other relevant qualification (preferred)
• Experience in supporting children aged 5–15
• Experience with positive behaviour support and management
• Complies with NSW WWCC and other checks (WWCC, National Police Check, NDIS Worker Check)

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with students or assist in small group work
• Use effective behavioural management techniques to promote a positive learning environment
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, school leadership and support providers
• Support Personalised Learning and Support Plans as directed

About William Campbell College

William Campbell College is a purpose-built, special assistance school in Nowra Hill on the South Coast of New South Wales.

The College offers a holistic education system to support students who may be disengaged from school, have suffered trauma or experienced time in out-of-home. Our college offers trauma informed teaching, positive education and wellbeing practices in a caring, safe and supportive environment, the College will support student’s growth and achievement from years K-8.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for Student Learning Support Officers (Level 1 – Level 3 Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020) to join the team at William Campbell College.

The SLSO role involves:

Working one on one with students or assisting in group work.

Utilising effective behavioural management techniques to assist in promoting an optimal learning environment.

Taking initiative while working well within a team and ensuring Personalised Learning and Support Plans are supported.

Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, school leadership and clinical support providers.

Key Requirements

Successful candidates will meet the below essential criteria:

Experience in Education Support or other relevant qualification (preferred)

Experience in supporting children and young people between the ages of 5 - 15

Experience in positive behaviour support and management

Ability to work within the framework of WCC's Christian Ethos and Values.

As a child safe organisation, WCC requires satisfactory statutory checks and references prior to confirmation of employment inclusive of an NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC) a National Police Check and an NDIS Worker Check.
