Job summary

University of Queensland Union (UQU) in Saint Lucia, QLD, seeks a proactive Student Engagement Program Coordinator to turn student priorities into practical delivery plans and run welfare initiatives. You’ll support student executives, manage budgets, and coordinate volunteers across campuses to enhance wellbeing and campus life.

You’ll work with elected student leaders and operational teams, travel between campuses when needed, and contribute to a values-driven culture at UQU.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience planning and running programs, events or campaigns in a student, community or not-for-profit setting.
• Experience supervising staff, casuals or volunteers, including rostering and work allocation.
• Experience managing program budgets and using data to report on outcomes.
• Strong relationship skills across teams and with diverse stakeholders, including elected student leaders.
• Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. community services, social sciences, events, communications or education) and/or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a university or student union setting, student welfare or cost-of-living initiatives is highly regarded.
• Trauma-informed or Mental Health First Aid training is highly regarded.
• Current Queensland driver’s licence (mandatory) and satisfactory Blue Card/Police Check may be required.
• Flexibility for out-of-hours work and travel to other campuses, including some late nights.

Responsibilities

• Turn the Student Executives’ priorities into detailed delivery plans covering timelines, resourcing, volunteers and spend.
• Coordinate welfare initiatives and campaigns on student wellbeing and cost-of-living pressures.
• Oversee Kampus Kitchen spaces to ensure they’re clean, safe, well-stocked and compliant with food safety.
• Supervise casual Student Engagement Admin Officers and coordinate volunteers.
• Use data to show what’s working and where students need more support.
• Guide and advise student leaders so their decisions become well-structured, deliverable programs, and propose ideas for emerging needs.
