Job summary

Pedare Christian College Inc. in Adelaide seeks a dedicated Student Counsellor to deliver pastoral care across our College, with a focus on early years and a supportive, inclusive approach to wellbeing.

The role is 0.8 FTE, permanent (40 weeks per year) commencing January 2027, requiring tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling and experience supporting young people. WWCC and RRHAN are essential; First Aid/CPR preferred.

Qualifications

• Formal training in counselling and mental health support.
• Experience supporting young people, preferably in education.
• Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated counselling for Reception to Year 5, with capacity to engage across R–12.
• Develop relationships with staff, parents and community to support pastoral care.
• Maintain effective referral system for student counselling.
• Maintain communication with staff, management and parents with timely feedback.
• Demonstrate understanding of child and adolescent development.
• Demonstrate mediation, negotiation and clear communication with students, staff and families.
• Demonstrate initiative, confidentiality and organisational skills.
• Keep accurate records and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Analyse complex problems and formulate clear and effective solutions.
