Job summary

Deloitte Sydney is seeking a university student or recent graduate for an Applied AI Engineer role. You will join a dynamic team to apply AI to real-world business problems, developing AI-enabled solutions and pipelines, and working with LLMs to support products and services in regulated environments.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across AI research, experimentation, and practical deployment while learning from experienced mentors in a commercial setting.

Qualifications

• Studying or recently completed degree in CS/Software Eng/AI/Data Science/Math.
• Experience with Python and AI/ML frameworks.
• Foundational knowledge of LLMs (e.g., BERT).
• Experience with AI via coursework, research, hackathons, internships or projects.
• Understanding prompting, evaluation and methods for improving AI output quality.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Curiosity about emerging AI technologies.
• Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Experience in regulated environments is useful but not required.
• Background in AI/LLM research preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI solutions and prototypes.
• Build AI pipelines and support AI harnesses in Python.
• Work with Large Language Models and related AI technologies.
• Experiment to improve AI output accuracy, reliability and quality.
• Explore techniques to reduce hallucinations and improve performance.
• Undertake research to solve product or business problems.
• Support development of AI-enabled products in regulated environments.
• Document findings and share recommendations with the team.
