Job summary

AustCorp Executive, a privately owned Queensland steel fabricator and erector, seeks an experienced estimator to own tenders from drawings through submission. You’ll price material, fabrication, surface treatment, freight, cranage and erection, and manage quotes and variations for live jobs.

You will attend tender meetings, site visits and negotiations, work with Directors on bids, and hand over won projects to the PM and detailing teams with clean, documented estimates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years estimating structural steel with a fabricator or fabricate-and-erect contractor.
• Confident reading structural and architectural drawings and specs.
• Good understanding of fabrication, connections, surface treatment and erection methods.
• Sharp numeracy and commercial sense to know when a price is right.
• Able to juggle multiple tenders and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own tenders from drawings to submission, pricing supply, fabrication and erection packages.
• Complete steel take-offs and build up costs for material, fabrication, surface treatment, freight, cranage and erection.
• Source and assess supplier and subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare clear tender submissions and price variations on live jobs.
• Attend tender meetings, site visits and post-tender negotiations.
• Work with the Directors on bid/no-bid decisions, margin and risk.
• Hand over won jobs to the PM and detailing team with clean, well-documented estimates.
