Job summary

Aurecon is seeking a Structural Modeller to join our Built Environment team in Sydney. You will contribute to a broad range of projects by coordinating the modelling of structural designs, delivering accurate models and drawings, and supporting delivery through BIM coordination.

You’ll work with engineers across disciplines, explore Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper for efficiency, and help federate models to identify clashes early while expanding your expertise in MEP and digital BIM technologies.

Qualifications

• Experience in digital or BIM modelling, ideally within structural design; exposure to MEP is an advantage.
• Confident Revit capability, with experience producing accurate models and drawings; familiarity with Autodesk Forma is beneficial.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work closely with engineers and contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Multi-disciplinary experience would be beneficial but not essential.
• Modelling and delivering building services projects in Revit, however experience of, or an interest in, programming further efficiencies in Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper or other software would be highly advantageous.
• Co-ordinating with other disciplines by federating models for the early identification and resolution of clashes.
• Facilitating virtual and mixed reality sessions for co-ordination and consultation purposes and be interested in the research and implementation of new BIM technology into project work.
• Creative problem-solving skills to continually finds ways to overcome challenges and obstacles.
• Works collaboratively across functional groups.

What you’ll do

As part of our Built Environment service group, in this role you will be a key member of the delivery team designing a wide range of projects. Encompassing a blend of BIM co-ordination, modelling, documentation, and delivery management, this role will see you bringing our clients’ ideas to life. We know the work we do is vital in assisting our world’s economic development and it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. You will be part of our building services team, encompassing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire protection engineering, along with providing digital support and advice to our clients and projects.

What you’ll bring

• Practical experience in digital or BIM modelling, ideally within structural design; exposure to MEP is an advantage.
• Confident Revit capability, with experience producing accurate models and drawings; familiarity with Autodesk Forma is beneficial.
• The ability to interpret engineering instructions, mark-ups and technical language, then progress modelling and drawing tasks with growing independence.
• A proactive and quality-focused approach, including checking your own work and asking questions when clarification is needed.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work closely with engineers and contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Curiosity and flexibility to build capability across structural and MEP disciplines, along with the ability to meet project‑specific security and eligibility requirements.
