Job summary

Weldcraft Engineering in Queanbeyan East NSW is seeking a hands-on welder/fabricator to join metal sections and structures using welding and bolting. You will select materials, methods, equipment and tools, applying a range of machinery and hand tools for structural steel work.

The role requires reading blueprints, preparing stock, cutting, aligning and joining parts, and inspecting welds for quality. A practical, detail-oriented, team-oriented individual is essential.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of full-time experience in Heavy Metal Fabrication.
• Detail-oriented with a can-do attitude.
• Analytical mindset and methodical approach.
• Team player capable of working independently.
• Able to undertake manual and physical work.
• Motivated with a genuine interest in the fabrication industry.

Responsibilities

• Studies blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Selects, cleans and prepares metal stock.
• Cuts marked out metal sections and shapes using hand tools and metal cutting machines.
• Aligns parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Joins metal sections using welding techniques and bolting.
• Examines welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
• Prepares all components for painting or powder coating.
