Job summary

Skilled Jobs Australia represents a Bordertown, SA fabricating company that makes and installs commercial and machinery sheds and yard covers. They are seeking Metal Fabricators to fabricate structural steel and other metal, and to repair products.

To qualify you need AQF Cert IV with 12 months' experience, or AQF Cert III with at least 2 years’ experience, or at least 3 years’ relevant experience as a substitute for formal qualifications.

Qualifications

• AQF Cert IV with 12 months of experience or AQF Cert III with at least 2 years of relevant experience, OR at least 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
• Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Select, clean, and prepare metal stock.
• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
• Align parts to be joined using hand tools.
• Join metal sections using welding techniques, bolting, and riveting.
• Examine welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision.
• Finish products by cleaning in acidic solutions.
• Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiseling, and grinding.
• Able to work efficiently on your own or within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural steel and other metal to make and repair products.
• Read blueprints and prepare stock, cut, shape, weld, bolt and rivet components.
• Inspect welds for quality and finish products to required standards.
