Fortis Steel Pty Ltd in Pakenham, VIC is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. This full-time role focuses on ensuring smooth operation of fabrication equipment and adherence to safety standards within structural steel manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with welding machines, CNC and fabrication tools, and a proactive approach to maintenance, repairs, and quality control on-site.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering or related qualification.
• Hands-on experience with structural steel fabrication tools and machinery.
• Strong commitment to quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Fault diagnosis and maintenance of MIG, TIG, and arc welding machines.
• Maintain steel cutting bandsaws, laser cutters and punch machines.
• Maintain paint machine and ensure unobstructed operation.
• Operate and maintain overhead cranes and forklifts, with records.
• Disassemble and repair mechanical assemblies and components.
• Install and replace valves, cables, and drive rolls.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine testing.
• Safety compliance and documentation of maintenance logs.
• Collaborate on design of custom-built workbenches and heavy-duty workstations.
• Operate CNC machinery and other fabrication equipment to manufacture components.
