Job summary

Steelfirst Pty Ltd in Pakenham, VIC is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabricator to join our team. This full-time role (38 hours per week) focuses on fabrication and on-site installation for residential and commercial projects, delivering quality workmanship.

You will study blueprints, prepare metal stock, cut and weld components, and ensure safety in a collaborative workshop environment. White Card and certified fabrication experience are required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Engineering - Fabrication (MEM31922 Certificate III or equivalent).
• Minimum 1 year experience as Structural Steel Fabricator.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Current White Card or ability to obtain before start.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety and WHS standards.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Prepare metal stock and calibrate tools before fabrication.
• Cut and shape metal using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and machines.
• Align parts for joining using measuring tools.
• Weld, bolt or rivet components and secure joints.
• Inspect welds for bead width, penetration, and accuracy.
• Finish products by cleaning, polishing and filing.
• Assist with on-site installation of structural steelwork.
• Maintain a safe workshop per WHS standards.
