Job description

Own the structural scope on a standout Territory project. Your way.

CC Pines is looking for a Structural Engineer to take ownership of the structural scope on our Darwin project. We're open to how this works: based in Darwin full-time is our preference, but we'll also consider a Sydney based arrangement, with a week on-site in Darwin every 4-6 weeks to stay close to the work.

If you know your way around concrete, blockwork and brickwork, and you want real ownership of a project that matters, keep reading.

About Us

CC Pines is an Australian-owned, family-founded construction company with a 45-year track record of delivering complex, high-risk projects that other contractors won't touch, from embassy builds in Morocco to Defence infrastructure across the Pacific. We work with the Australian Department of Defence, DFAT, and the US Department of Defence, and we've never had a reportable safety incident. We're big enough to run world-class projects, small enough that your voice actually gets heard.

Our values, humble, hungry, smart, aren't a poster on the wall. They're how we pick our people and how we run our projects.

Why This Role?
  • Your call on location. Darwin based full-time if you're ready for the move, or Sydney based with a structured travel rhythm if you're not, either way, you'll own the structural scope.
  • Real ownership. Design, coordination and delivery are yours to run, not a slice of someone else's project.
  • A properly interesting project. Darwin's Defence and infrastructure pipeline is booming, and this puts you right in the middle of it.
  • Relocation or travel, both handled. Relocation support if you're moving to Darwin, or flights and accommodation organised and covered for your site weeks if you're Sydney based.
  • Career runway. Own a standout Territory project, on terms that work for your life right now.
A Bit About Darwin

Darwin brings a genuine change of pace, Mindil Beach sunsets, a laid-back Territory rhythm, and a dry season (roughly May to October) with some of the best year-round outdoor conditions in the country. If you're Darwin based, it also comes with real financial upside: the Zone A remote area tax offset, no NT land tax for individuals, and a stamp duty concession worth up to $18,600 if you're buying a home in the Territory. If you're visiting every 4-6 weeks, it's a week worth planning around rather than just enduring, real face time with the site team, not just a call.

Job Description
The Role

As Structural Engineer, you'll take ownership of the structural design, coordination and delivery for our Darwin project, working closely with the Project Manager and site team to make sure the structural scope is safe, compliant and delivered on program. Whether you're on-site full-time or visiting on a set rhythm, you'll be the go-to structural voice on this project.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading structural design and engineering for the Darwin project, from concept through to as-built
  • Overseeing structural works involving concrete, blockwork and brickwork, with a genuine eye for quality and compliance
  • Coordinating with the Project Manager, site team and subcontractors to keep structural works on program and on spec
  • Reviewing and approving structural drawings, specifications and contractor submissions
  • Inspecting works on-site, troubleshooting issues and supporting construction through to completion
  • Identifying risks early and working through practical solutions
  • Ensuring structural works meet relevant Australian standards and project compliance requirements
  • Reporting progress and technical updates to the Project Manager and wider project team
Desired Skills and Experience
What We're Looking For
  • Degree qualified Structural Engineer, with experience across design, construction, or a mix of both
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of concrete, blockwork and brickwork construction
  • Experience on commercial, infrastructure or government construction projects
  • Comfortable working closely with site teams and subcontractors to get the detail right
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the flexibility to adapt when site conditions don't go to plan
  • Solid communication skills, both technical and plain English, for working with a range of stakeholders
  • If Darwin based: willing to relocate for the role. If Sydney based: willing and able to travel to Darwin every 4-6 weeks for a week at a time
Ready to Take Ownership?

If you want a role where you'll genuinely own the structural scope on a standout Territory project, on terms that work for you, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note, CC Pines can only consider those holding current Australian or New Zealand passports
