Job summary

Intrax Consulting Engineers in Melbourne is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Housing team. You will deliver residential designs for single dwellings, townhouses, and low-rise developments under guidance from senior engineers.

You will prepare calculations, plans and documentation meeting project requirements, collaborate with engineers, drafters and coordinators, and support client relationships through the project lifecycle while developing your technical judgement.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognised institution.
• 3+ years’ post-graduate structural design experience, preferably residential/low-rise.
• Demonstrated experience designing timber, concrete and steel structures.
• Proficient with relevant design software and Australian Standards.

About You

You will bring strong technical capability, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine interest in mentoring others. You will have:

• A Bachelor Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
• 3+ years’ post-graduate structural design experience, ideally within the residential or low-rise building sector.
• Demonstrated experience in the design of residential and low-rise structures.
• Solid experience designing with timber, reinforced concrete and steel structures, including waffle and raft slabs, suspended slabs, and retaining walls.
• Proficiency with structural design software such as ClearCalcs, Space Gass and Toolkit (Inducta and RAPT advantageous).
• Strong ability to interpret and apply Australian Standards and the NCC, including AS2870, AS1684, AS1170, AS3600 and AS4100.
• Well-developed communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and project stakeholders.
• Working towards state registration and/or chartership (e.g. CPEng), with Intrax actively supporting you through the chartership process via mentorship, guidance and professional development.
