Job summary

Amida Group in Sydney seeks an experienced Structural Project Drafter to lead and deliver structural drawings and BIM models. The role combines drafting, project coordination and client liaison, with responsibility from inception through to completion.

The ideal candidate will have strong Revit and AutoCAD skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects across industrial and commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

Our client is a growing structural engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Structural Project Drafter to join their team in Sydney. This is an opportunity for a technically strong drafter who is looking to take on greater responsibility across project coordination, client management and delivery.

The Structural Project Drafter will be responsible for managing structural engineering documentation from project commencement through to completion, while acting as the key link between clients, engineers, architects, contractors and drafting resources.

You will be responsible for producing high-quality structural drawings and BIM models, coordinating engineering input, managing project programmes and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.

The role will suit an experienced Structural Drafter with strong Revit and AutoCAD capabilities who has excellent communication and organisational skills and is comfortable attending project meetings, coordinating multiple stakeholders and taking ownership of project delivery.

The Structural Project Drafter is authorised to manage day-to-day project communications, coordinate engineering and drafting resource, schedule project meetings and workshops, issue drafting documentation in accordance with company procedures, escal ... commercial, technical, or programme risks to management.

Projects are across mainly Industrial and some Commercial projects and experience in structural steel detailing is essential. There will be some large concrete projects too. It is client facing work with client Meetings and client communications and the Drafter manages the engineer with the engineer working across multiple projects. There is also training and mentoring provided.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Manage assigned projects from commencement through to completion
• Prepare and maintain project programmes and monitor progress against deadlines
• Act as the primary day-to-day contact for clients on assigned projects
• Attend client meetings, design coordination meetings and project workshops
• Coordinate with architects, builders, contractors, certifiers and consultants
• Coordinate engineering resources and design input across projects
• Follow up outstanding engineering actions and design decisions
• Produce and manage detailed structural documentation using Revit and AutoCAD
• Prepare structural models, drawings, schedules and construction documentation
• Convert engineer mark-ups and concept sketches into buildable documentation
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness and coordination with other disciplines
• Monitor project budgets, drafting hours and delivery performance
• Identify project risks, delays, scope changes and resource requirements
• Ensure documentation is issued in accordance with company QA procedures
• Undertake internal reviews prior to document issue
• Assist in developing drafting systems, templates and standards
• Support continuous improvement of drafting workflows and project delivery processes

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar structural drafting role
• Advanced Revit and AutoCAD capability
• Strong understanding of structural engineering documentation and construction processes
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience attending and/or leading project meetings
