Job summary

Salesian College Chadstone is seeking an enthusiastic Strings - Cello Tutor to join our Performing Arts and Music Team on a casual basis. Deliver cello lessons to individuals and small groups, developing technique and performance confidence while supporting concerts and ensembles.

The role involves collaboration within the Performing Arts team and contributing to the growth of the college’s strings program, including AMEB preparation where applicable, in a Catholic school environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated cello technique and strings tutoring experience.
• Ability to teach individuals and small groups effectively.
• Experience preparing students for performances and examinations.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced vocal educator who is passionate about developing young performers and contributing to a dynamic and growing music program within a supportive Catholic school community.

About the Role

• Deliver individual and/or small-group cello lessons.
• Develop students' cello technique, musicianship, sight-reading, aural awareness and performance confidence.
• Support students in preparing for concerts, recitals, ensemble performances, liturgical events and other College performances.
• Support and/or conduct String Ensemble rehearsals and performances as required.
• Provide constructive feedback to students regarding their progress and development.
• Work collaboratively with the Performing Arts and wider Music Team.
• Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the College's strings program.
• Prepare students for AMEB examinations where applicable.

About You

• Appropriate qualifications and/or demonstrated experience as a cello and strings tutor.
• Strong expertise in cello technique, musicianship and performance preparation.
• The ability to teach students in individual and small-group settings.
• Experience preparing students for concerts, recitals and ensemble performances.
• Strong organisational, communication and time-management skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a supportive Performing Arts team.
• A commitment to the Catholic identity, Salesian charism and values of the College.
• A strong commitment to Child Safety and the wellbeing of young people.
