Job summary

Christ Church Grammar School in Melbourne seeks a Part-Time Strings Coordinator (0.4 FTE) for 2027, two days per week, to lead violin/viola/cello/double bass teaching and ensemble activities. The role focuses on creative, student-centered music education and active participation in school life.

You will collaborate with the Head of Music to curate repertoire, prepare students for performances, and liaise with families about progress and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency on a string instrument, with the ability to teach violin, viola, cello and/or double bass.
  • Ability to conduct and develop ensembles focusing on student engagement, technique and musical expression.
  • Knowledge and implementation of suitable and varied ensemble repertoire.
  • Willingness to participate in the broader life of the school community, including after-hours events.
  • Under the guidance of the Head of Music, strong planning, programming, behaviour management and assessment skills, implementing inclusive, differentiated programs tailored to diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Additional Duties:

Communicate effectively with parents about student learning and progress, as appropriate.

Participate in Music camps, rehearsals, concerts, and other events as required.

Contribute to reviewingstudentachievement and or growth through various reporting processes.

Comply with all school-wide training, particularly in child safeguarding.

Contribute to the annual school musical, as required.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, applicants will need to have addressed the following Key Selection Criteria as part of their Cover Letter.
