Geelong Grammar School is seeking an experienced and passionate music educator to join our Junior School as a Music Teacher with a POR for Coordinator of Strings | Early Childhood and Primary. The role is a 0.49 FTE teaching position with a 0.16 FTE time release and a total 0.65 FTE contract.

Qualifications

• Victorian Institute of Teaching registration required.
• Tertiary qualifications in Music Education.
• Experienced music educator and musician.
• Expertise in teaching strings and instrumental music.
• Knowledge of IB PYP and Reggio Emilia philosophy; keyboard/accompaniment skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and coordinate the Early Childhood and Primary Strings Programme.
• Deliver engaging strings instruction that supports student growth and achievement.
• Enhance and develop the Strings Programme to maximise participation and engagement.
• Collaborate with the Music Department, classroom teachers and school leaders for programme success.
• Develop and coordinate musical performances, assemblies and concerts.
• Prepare students for performance opportunities, including inter-campus events.
• Support music curriculum aligned with best practices and PYP/Reggio Emilia philosophies.
• Maintain records of student progress using authentic assessment.
• Communicate with parents through conversations, reports and conferences.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on programme outcomes and student achievement.
• Foster student wellbeing and an inclusive learning environment.
• Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the Music Department.
