The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health is seeking a Faculty Research Infrastructure Officer to support researchers by providing administrative and technical assistance for developing, maintaining and optimising FMH research infrastructure.

This full‑time, fixed‑term role focuses on preparing equipment grant applications, supporting pre- and post‑award management, and offering strategic guidance on infrastructure use across FMH. It does not involve direct laboratory experiments.

Qualifications

• Experience in research-intensive environments or research facilities.
• Demonstrated administrative and communications skills.
• Ability to travel within multiple sites.
• Numeracy skills with expenditure reconciliation.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Experience developing protocols and manuals per regulatory standards.
• Ability to interpret and implement policy and procedures.
• Excellent time and workload management with ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

Responsabilités

• Identify core research equipment infrastructure and establish technological priorities for shared use.
• Create an inventory of FMH equipment with purchase, commissioning, and lifecycle details.
• Support change programs and strategic reviews to improve utilisation of equipment and space.
• Coordinate SBA program participation including planning, resource allocation and implementation.
• Complete data collection for auditing assets and hazardous materials when required.
• Apply technical knowledge for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Assist in submissions and applications to secure funding for research infrastructure.
