Job summary

Geoscience Australia seeks a Director of Procurement and Commercial to provide strategic leadership and oversight of procurement and contract management across the entity. You will ensure compliance with the PGPA Act, CPRs and Finance Framework while guiding high-value, complex procurements and managing a team of procurement professionals.

Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will manage financial, people and operational resources and contribute to agency-wide governance objectives,

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading a procurement and commercial function within APS or similar regulatory environment.
• Extensive experience leading complex procurement and contract management activities.
• Strong knowledge of CPRs, PGPA Act, Commonwealth Finance Framework and Procurement Policies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including executive briefs and submissions.
• Strong analytical, risk management and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and improvement of the agency's procurement frameworks and guidance materials.
• Ensure procurement activities align with government priorities and legal requirements.
• Provide strategic advice on high-risk, high-value procurements.
• Interpret and apply CPRs, Finance Framework and other policies.
• Provide governance, risk management and assurance across procurement activities.
• Lead, mentor and manage procurement professionals and allocate resources.
