Job summary

Osborne Richardson are partnering with Central Highlands Regional Council in Emerald, Queensland, seeking a Manager Planning and Land Management for a temporary backfill. Based in Emerald, you’ll lead planning, land management, and mining liaison within the Communities directorate.

You will interpret legislation, prepare reports, engage with Councillors and the community, and drive policy development while managing multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree qualifications in Urban & Regional Town Planning or similar.
• Local Government experience and knowledge of Queensland planning legislation.
• Knowledge of building, plumbing, planning regulations and codes.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and staff.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for development assessment, strategic land use planning, building and plumbing regulation and compliance, ranger services, rural land management and mining liaison.
• Interpreting and applying legislation, providing professional advice and ensuring changes flow through to Council processes.
• Preparing complex reports, presenting and workshop with Councillors, community engagement and policy development.
• Leading, motivating and developing multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating the section's Coordinators.
• Driving strategic planning and a culture of proactive compliance with policies and systems.
• Planning, implementing and tracking short, medium and long term projects with focus on life-cycle costs.
