Job summary

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Morwell office seeks a Manager of Rehabilitation Strategy and Transition to lead strategic oversight and delivery of mine rehabilitation initiatives, including the Latrobe Valley Regional Rehabilitation Strategy (LVRRS). This role supports safe, stable and sustainable land use as the region transitions from brown coal.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in earth or environmental science, engineering, natural resource management, planning, economics, law, public policy or a related field is mandatory.
Sound understanding of the factors, risks and opportunities involved in mine rehabilitation, ideally in brown coal.
Highly developed communication skills with the ability to negotiate sensitive issues at senior levels in the public and private sectors and prepare high level briefings and reports.
Experience in mine rehabilitation, land use transition, regional development, major project delivery or public policy would be well regarded.

Responsibilities

Lead the Victorian Government’s strategic oversight and delivery of mine rehabilitation initiatives, including LVRRS.
Coordinate cross-government action on mine rehabilitation and future land use.
Provide clear, evidence-based advice to executives, governance forums and ministers on policy and implementation matters.
