Job summary

Macquarie University seeks a Head, Employee Relations to provide strategic oversight of our employee and industrial relations function across the University Group, including Macquarie University and Macquarie University Hospital. In this senior role, you will guide enterprise agreement bargaining, policy development and union liaison.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will lead a team of Senior Employee Relations Consultants and a Health Management Advisor, driving fair employment

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the employment legal framework and workplace relations.
• Experience guiding organisations through complex workplace matters and change management.
• Experience in enterprise agreement bargaining and implementation across varied contexts.
• Mentoring and developing ER/HR team members.

Responsibilities

• Oversee high-quality employee relations advice for complex cases and disputes.
• Guide a whole-of-HR approach to conduct, performance and change management.
• Oversee enterprise agreement implementation and bargaining input across contexts.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to ER/HR team members and build capability.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with unions for industrial harmony.
• Represent the University in meetings with unions and in employment-related proceedings where required.
• Lead the development, maintenance and review of HR policies with employment relations elements.
• Participate in HR Leadership Team to shape culture and ensure compliance.
