Job summary

J and R Refrigeration is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the accounts team, deliver accurate financial reporting and provide strategic insights for growth. You will report to the Director and GM and oversee budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis.

The role requires strong technical accounting skills, commercial acumen and a hands-on approach to managing a busy finance function. ERP experience and leadership are essential in this on-site Cairns role.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in a Financial Controller or Finance Manager role.
• Strong technical accounting, financial reporting and analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel skills with ERP/Accounting software experience.
• Experience with Pronto and IBM Cognos Analytics is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• A degree in Accounting or Finance is advantageous but not required.
• Experience in Building Services & Construction Industry would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounts team operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger.
• Manage month-end and year-end rollover and financial reporting with accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare management reports of KPIs to support decision-making.
• Prepare management reports for monthly forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management.
• Monitor performance, profitability, margins and operating costs; advise accordingly.
• Maintain effective internal controls of financial policies and procedures.
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, tax advisers, banks and other stakeholders.
• Assist to improve financial processes, reporting systems, inventory control and efficiency.
• Lead and mentor the Accounting Team to support business development.
