Job summary

Ipswich City Council is seeking a Senior Finance Partner (Operational) to act as a trusted advisor to council leaders, guiding strategic financial decisions and supporting departmental objectives within the Finance Business Partnering team.

You will work with stakeholders to shape financial strategy, deliver budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, and ensure accurate ledgers and cost control, with a salary starting at AU$114,994 plus 12.5% superannuation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting or equivalent.
• Eligibility for CPA, CA or equivalent membership.
• Substantial budgeting, management accounting and financial analysis experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial policy, procedures, accounting standards and systems guidance relating to budgeting, management accounting and financial analysis.
• Deliver financial reporting, variance analysis and forecasting.
• Play a key role in annual budget development and ongoing budget maintenance, amendments and phasing adjustments.
• Manage monthly general ledger and project ledger processes to maintain accurate financial information, including reconciliations, accruals, journals and allocations.
• Prepare and present business cases and improve financial processes to support sound decisions, streamline operations and minimise cost.
