Job summary

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS6 Finance & Investment Officer to support a high-profile Federal Government team responsible for broadband policy, strategic investment oversight and financial stewardship of national infrastructure programs. Location – Canberra CBD.

This role involves analysing financial data, preparing executive reporting and contributing to governance, risk and investment assessment processes in collaboration with stakeholders across government.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial analysis, investment assessment or budgeting within government or public sector environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written communication, briefing and report-writing skills.
• Ability to interpret complex financial information and present clear recommendations.
• Experience preparing executive-level documentation and presentations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
• Experience in government, infrastructure, investment or regulatory environments.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain Baseline Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Review quarterly subscription notices and equity funding requests.
• Prepare delegate approvals, briefs and supporting financial analysis.
• Monitor progress and report on broadband infrastructure initiatives.
• Develop reports, presentations and visuals for senior executives.
• Analyze investment proposals, funding arrangements and capital management.
• Support governance, appropriations and administrative requirements.
