Job summary

HorizonOne Recruitment Pty is supporting a small Australian government agency to appoint an EL1 Facilities and Security Manager in Canberra. You will oversee the dual portfolio for facilities, property and security services, delivering strategic direction and operational excellence.

The role focuses on risk assessment, workplace safety, travel and overseas security, business continuity and compliance with PSPF, with autonomy and opportunity to influence senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in managing corporate property services and/or physical security operations within a government or large-scale organisation.
• Solid understanding of PSPF, facility security requirements and WHS legislation.
• Proven ability to manage vendors, deliver complex services and oversee performance under contracts.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate identification, management and rectification of office defects and facilities issues.
• Assess physical, personnel and travel security arrangements; conduct risk assessments and identify priority treatments.
• Support property reporting and planning obligations, including Australian Government Property Register and Emissions Reduction Plan.
• Lead a 12-month post-occupancy review of office accommodation and develop options to improve workspace functionality.
• Improve visitor management, access controls and incident escalation pathways for security and travel risks.
• Develop and implement systems, processes and policies for ongoing management of facilities, security and business continuity.
