Job summary

Shieldai in Melbourne seeks an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to lead end-to-end contracting for Australian Defence procurements, international government programs, and complex commercial arrangements across hardware, software, and services.

The role requires eight years+ in defence/regulated environments, deep knowledge of ASDEFCON, IP and data rights, and the ability to operate across time zones with internal stakeholders while delivering risk-informed commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in contracts or commercial management, defence/aerospace focus.
• Experience with Australian Defence contracting frameworks and CPRs.
• Experience negotiating hardware and software product contracts.
• Experience with international government or cross-border deals.
• Strong ability to translate complex requirements into commercial terms.
• Proven ability to lead high-value negotiations and manage multiple deals.

Responsibilities

• Lead contracting across capture, tendering, negotiation, award, performance, and closeout.
• Advise Business Development, Programs, Finance, Legal, and Trade Compliance.
• Draft and negotiate international commercial agreements and licensing terms.
• Manage IP, data rights, and software-licensing arrangements.
• Apply ASDEFCON and Commonwealth Procurement Rules to contracts.
• Maintain contract summaries, obligations registers, and audit-ready records.
• Lead contract modifications, extensions, and renewal discussions.
