Job summary

bp in Australia seeks a Cost Controller to support the Project Manager and Project Controls Lead in managing the cost baseline, forecasts and financial performance. You will maintain reliable cost data, assist forecasting and provide timely cost insights for project decisions.

You will establish budgets from estimates, maintain cost structures, support cashflow, review contractor costs and contribute to dashboards and governance reporting in a hybrid office/remote setup.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in project cost control within oil & gas, refining or heavy industry.
• Experience with cost control systems and governance.
• Experience on major capital projects and decommissioning is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish project control budgets from approved estimates and schedules; ensure understanding of basis and plan.
• Maintain project cost structures, budget, commitments, actuals, accruals, and cost reports.
• Support cost forecasting, cashflow and variance analysis.
• Review contractor cost reports, invoices, staffing plans and unit-rate data.
• Support progress measurements in collaboration with Project Planner.
• Escalate cost risks, forecast movements, and data quality issues.
• Maintain cost data integrity across CMMS, Excel and Power BI systems.
• Support change control by assessing cost impact and updating forecasts.
• Prepare inputs for project reporting, including dashboards and governance reports.
