Job summary

Hume Community Housing in Sydney is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications & Engagement to lead the Communications & Engagement team and influence how we articulate our purpose, priorities and impact across clients, partners and communities.

Reporting to the CEO and Executive team, you will turn complex organisational priorities into clear, engaging messages, guide brand and reputation, and balance strategy with delivery while developing a high‑performing team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in communications, engagement, media, marketing or related field.
• Experience providing trusted communications advice to senior executives, with speeches, briefings and talking points.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop a team, creating clarity and accountability.
• Strong editorial eye and ability to turn outcomes into engaging stories that show impact.
• Strong relationship-building skills to lead communications for diverse, complex or sensitive matters.
• Experience planning and delivering events and engagement activities for audiences.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Communications & Engagement team and provide strategic direction.
• Provide trusted strategic advice to the CEO, Chief Customer Officer and Executive team.
• Turn complex organisational priorities into clear, engaging communications that connect with people, customers and communities.
• Balance strategy with delivery and drive delivery across multiple channels and audiences.
• Guide communications through emerging issues and sensitive matters with sound judgement.
• Shape Hume’s voice, reputation and presence across the organisation and wider community.
